The chart-topping British pop star is rumoured to be dreaming of marrying his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn in the grounds of his Suffolk mansion having filed an application to build an idyllic retreat on the site, which is where they could tie the knot.
But Ed’s reported ambitions appear to have become derailed due to collection of statutorily protected great crested newts that have been found to be living in the pond.
The pond is, in fact, said to be home to one of the largest populations of the protected species in the area, and so Ed’s plans have attracted controversy with objections having been lodged with the Local Planning Authority against the chapel plans.
Opponents have called upon the planning authority to require a “full ecological survey” before the planning application is assessed.
