Appointment to the RTPI Conduct and Discipline Panel

I have been appointed to the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Conduct and Discipline Panel.

The Panel meets four times a year to consider complaints made against RTPI members who are alleged to be in breach of the Code of Conduct.

The Code, which is binding on all members both in private practice and in the public sector, is designed to ensure the highest standards of professionalism are maintained at all times.

The principles of the Code are:

(a) that members shall act with competence, honesty and integrity;

(b) that members shall fearlessly and impartially exercise their independent professional judgement;

(c) that members shall discharge their duty to their employers, clients, colleagues and others with due care and diligence;

(d) that members will not discriminate on grounds of race, sex, sexual orientation, creed, religion, disability or age;

(e) that members shall not bring the profession or the Institute into disrepute.

If a member is found to be in breach of the Code there are a range of sanctions available from a warning to termination of membership.
