Wayne Rooney’s wife Coleen clearly knows her planning keywords.

In battling against plans for 15 new homes near her mansion in Cheshire she wrote that the scheme would be “in direct conflict with national green belt policy” and there was “no evidence of very special circumstances required to override the harm”.

Members of Cheshire East Council’s planning committee echoed Coleen’s concerns after officers recommended it be refused deeming it “inappropriate in the green belt” and duly threw the application out.
